Porsche 911 GT3 RS price, specs, and release date revealed

Porsche 911 GT3 RS is back with its stripped-out, track-focused styling. Motorsport-inspired upgrades include aerodynamic tweaks inspired by Formula 1, new suspension components, chassis modifications, and a more powerful naturally aspirated engine in the latest 992-generation model.

Design of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Porsche 911 GT3 RS is as lairy-looking as it is sensible and staid. Aerodynamic flicks and fins inspired by the GT3 R racing car cover this look-at-me red car.

As much downforce as possible is generated by the new front splitter, bonnet vents, side skirts, and horizontal fins, but the new rear wing takes center stage. In addition, it is the first to extend above the roof of a roadgoing 911.

Also attached to the wing flap is an F1-style drag-reduction system (DRS), which boosts top speed or increases downforce using hydraulic rams. By pressing a button on the steering wheel, the GT3 RS will offload some of its 860kg of downforce to help you reach 184mph.

Engine and performance of the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Similar to the GT3, the GT3 RS uses a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six engine. RS models have new camshafts that make them feel snappier at high revs (you can enjoy this car until you hit 9,000 rpm). They also increase power from 510hp to 525hp.

The seven-speed dual-clutch PDK gearbox offers the same performance as the optional automatic transmission in the GT3 (there’s no manual option on the RS) but Porsche has optimized the final drive ratio for boosted acceleration throughout the range.

Porsche claims it will reach 60 mph in 3.2 seconds from rest. The new GT3 is 0.2 seconds faster than the outgoing 991.2 GT3 RS.

Porsche usually undersells the performance of these cars, so it’s likely the 911 GT3 RS will hit 60mph near 2.7 seconds.

A new interior for the Porsche 911 GT3 RS

A few tasty upgrades have been made to the interior of the new GT3 RS, which shares many similarities with the latest GT3. Among them are carbon-fibre sports seats as standard and an adaptive suspension control wheel with additional buttons.

You can adjust the compression and rebound damping of each axle individually, as well as the settings of the rear limited-slip differential if you fancy yourself a car-setup savant.

With the Clubsport Pack, you can also get a steel roll cage, or you can opt for a lighter carbon-fibre cage with the Weissach pack. As an optional feature, magnesium alloy wheels and unpainted carbon fibre body panels are available.

The new Porsche 911 GT3 RS is discounted now. It costs from £178,500. That is over £40,000 more than the GT3 expenses and it’s nearly £10,000 more than a 911 Turbo S. The discretionary Weissach Pack adds nearly £26,000 (assuming you spec it with the extravagant carbon confine).
